How it relates to my work: Sekhar creates exterior scenes in 3D Max to create believable scenes that are a representation of what a space could be.  Sekhar tells me that he uses HDRI lighting and a mixture of free to download and his own textures.  Sekhar’s exterior work (the Trinidad Exhibition and the Terrance Bar) use images to provide a context for the models.
How my work is different: Sekhars work is produced to provide visual support for architectural projects that are in the planning stages.  His work will enable those with financial interests to make decisions.  My work is less focused in this sense as it’s not being made for a specific client with a purpose.  My work supports my academic study and the notions that come from it.
What I like about the work: I really like the Terrance bar, the materials very well prepared.  The reflections from the tiles seems just right for the scene.  I would love to know how he made the plants they are fantastic.  Generally the lighting is effective, my only criticism is that the plants seem to be slightly overtoned by the surrounding walls.  I think that if they were on the out edge of the space they would be slightly less yellow in tone.

My study has taught me that when you look around you are surrounded by objects, sometimes they are your, sometimes not, rarely are places in “showroom condition”.  I think that by placing several “random” objects into these scenes such as a waste bin and parking ticket machine/meter in the car park, a passing car in the foreground of the shops with people walking by, and a bar visitors coat over the seating and a phone and sunglasses on the table, the scenes could well become even more believable.  This isn’t a criticism of the work as it was produced for a particular reason for the client and shows the spaces clearly and positively.  I would imagine that clients don’t really want to be reminded of waste bins and parking meters or the way that clients will treat their furniture.  These things are a reality that comes with actualisation rather than visualisation in this context.
